Pebbles Montessori Cashmere opened in September 2015 and operates from a beautifully renovated villa in Cashmere. We are licensed for 37 children aged 3 months - 6 years and are open every day from 8.00am – 5.30pm including school holidays.

We embrace the Montessori philosophy as well as our early childhood curriculum Te Whāriki. Our teachers are early childhood trained or in training and are Montessori trained or experienced.

OUR VISION

For children to see themselves as competent and confident learners in an environment of peace, respect and collaboration.

Our Learning Priorities:

We have woven together Tātaiako competencies and Te Whāriki strands to create 5 Learning Priorities relevant and unique to our centre and our local community:

  • HAUORA - HOLISTIC
  • WHANAUNGATANGA - RELATIONSHIPS
  • WHAKAUTE - RESPECT
  • MANA TE REO - COMMUNICATION
  • HĀPAI - JOURNE

Our Philosophy

Our mission is for children, whanau and teachers to be inspired by a love of learning.

We recognise parents as the first educators of their child, we value whānau aspirations and welcome their wealth of diverse talents.

We value tamariki as unique individuals and celebrate their successes to ensure they see themselves as competent and confident learners.

We foster a safe environment of aroha and respect as a base to build, reciprocal relationships with all tamariki, whānau and within our teaching team.

We embrace our bi-cultural heritage through waiata, Te Reo and Tikanga Māori values so that our tamariki will embrace their heritage as young New Zealanders.

We honour Te Tiriti o Waitangi and recognise Māori as Tangata Whenua.

We embrace all cultures and recognise that cultural diversity forms a large part of New Zealand.

We aim to ignite tamarikis’ interests to discover, explore and learn through planned and spontaneous play.

We recognise that a positive team culture, open communication, collaborative practice and ongoing professional development is essential for kaiako to grow both personally and professionally.

We aim to deliver a holistic education based on Montessori principles, within the framework of Te Whāriki and Tātaiako as our guiding documents.
