Little Owls is a quality early childhood education centre for children ages 0-5. The centre has a Nursery room with 15 spaces and a Preschool room with 29 spaces. Partnership with whanau is important to us and we ensure respectful and reciprocal relationships are formed.
The centre is based at St John of God Waipuna, a social services agency focused on supporting youth towards growth and development.
Nursery Room
Our nursery caters for children from birth to two years of age and accommodates up to 15 children per day. The nursery is a calming environment with a separate sleep room and outdoor area. Children are able to explore and play throughout the day at their own pace. Our Nursery has a free movement philosophy – which means our infants are able to explore their environment freely with no restrictions from bouncers, high chairs or walkers.
Preschool Room
Our preschool caters for children two to five years of age, with up to 29 children onsite each day. The preschool ensures a range of experiences during the day. We offer a learning focused culture based on the children’s interests to extend and engage our tamariki. The preschool has a large outdoor area that kaiako present in a way that engages our children.
We are a KidsCan ECE Centre which means all Tamariki receive five fresh and healthy meals free of charge through the week. This important programme also provides free jackets, free shoes and socks as well as other health products.
St John of God Hauora Trust's Child Protection Policy helps ensure the safety and protection of children and provide guidelines for our caregivers to ensure correct and effective processes are in place when there are concerns for the safety or wellbeing of children.
